CC Predator Calls in Madador Texas

CC Predator Calls Background

Putting together over 100 years of calling and hunting experience, Randy Hicks and Billy Stinson have finally made available to the public a predator call they are willing to put their name on. What began as a hand call made from a cow horn has evolved into the current design. Each call is constructed of quality materials that are nonreactive and unbreakable with normal use. Each one is hand-tuned by either Randy or Billy and adjusted to make sure the sounds created meet their standards. The hand-tested calls are lightweight and small enough to fit into a shirt pocket.

When hunting, the caller is able to make sounds ranging from shrill to coarse and from a whisper to a sound that may be heard over a long distance. The range of sounds include a rabbit in distress, a woodpecker, a rat, small rodents, a cottontail, and many others. Learn more by viewing our video on how to make predator calls.

After finding a area where varmints are thought to be, the hunter places his or her teeth on the mouthpiece, bites down gently and blows through the call. With practice, each person finds the spot where he or she makes the sound they like best. It is a good idea to then make a small groove in the plastic where the teeth will rest. This helps to ensure consistent results.

CC Predator Calls Win At Contests

The prototype of this call has lead to the winning of predator calling contests for several years. The record of these wins stands at 45 coyotes shot and 38 found in a 24-hour period. In one three day non-contest hunt the harvest was 51 coyotes, 4 bobcats, and 7 fox. This was about half of what was actually called. As many as 7 coyotes have been taken at one calling stop.

Predator and Varmint Control

Randy and Billy were asked to come to South Africa to call caracals and jackals for several game ranchers who were having problems with these predators killing their marketable game. They used this hand call and harvested 60 jackals, several cape fox and African wild cats; 10 responses from jackals came at one stop with repeated calling. They have been asked to return for additional predator control.

Both of these experienced hunters have used electronic calls, and various hand and mouth calls and always come back to this basic one. Over the years, they have not shared the construction, but have decided in their old age to share and help bring it to a new generation of real varmint hunters. The challenge of skills, cunning, and experience against the predator. The winner takes all. In an age of electronic sounds and calls, the “true” caller uses his skill against the predator.
